Beginner friendly hike The Greensand Hills on the Surrey/Kent border
Setting off from Oxted, we leave the town behind and follow quiet country paths into the beautiful surrounding countryside. Passing through the historic village of Limpsfield, we continue towards Limpsfield Chart, where woodland trails and peaceful rural scenery create a wonderful escape from everyday life.
Along the way, we discover St Andrew’s Church, Limpsfield Chart, a charming historic church tucked into the countryside. Nearby, The Carpenters Arms provides our planned lunch stop — the perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy a traditional pub meal and recharge before the afternoon walk.
After lunch, we continue through the surrounding countryside, passing Quince House Cookery School and the distinctive Salt Box House, adding a few unusual local landmarks to our woodland adventure. The route then leads us through a changing landscape of wooded paths, open clearings and quiet country lanes, with opportunities to enjoy the area's natural beauty and far-reaching views. Finally, we make our way back towards Oxted, completing a varied countryside walk packed with hidden gems.
