- Do I need any experience to join?
- Not at all. Outdoorly hikes are designed for everyone, including complete beginners. Our leaders set a relaxed pace and make sure no one is left behind. If you can walk around a city for a few hours, you can do one of our hikes.
- What should I bring?
- A few essentials cover you for a great day out: sturdy shoes or trainers (trail shoes are ideal but not required), a waterproof layer, a small backpack, water, and a packed lunch or snacks. We always share a full kit list in your booking confirmation email.
- How does the train travel work?
- Your train fare is included in the ticket price — no separate booking needed. After you sign up we send you a group travel itinerary with the train time, platform, and carriage to meet us in. Just show up at the station and we handle everything else.
- How big are the groups?
- Groups are capped at 20 people, which keeps things social and personal without feeling like a crowd. On average our hikes run with 10–15 participants, so you'll have plenty of space to find your stride and chat to new people.
- What does a typical day look like?
- We usually leave London on the 8–9am train, arrive at the start point, walk with plenty of breaks, stop for lunch somewhere scenic, and head back in time for early evening. Most hikes wrap up by 7pm London time. Your booking confirmation has the full schedule.
- What if the weather is bad?
- We hike in light rain — the English countryside is beautiful in the drizzle, and we'll have waterproofs. If conditions are genuinely unsafe (storms, flooding) we contact all participants by 7am on the day and offer a free reschedule or full refund.
- Can I come on my own?
- Absolutely — most people do. Our groups are relaxed and friendly, and the shared train journey is a natural icebreaker. Many people who come solo end up hiking with the same crew again.
- How do I book?
- Browse upcoming dates on the hikes page, pick the one that works for you, and check out. You'll get a confirmation email with everything you need. Spots fill up fast on weekends, so booking a week or two ahead is worth it.
